Diagnosis: Ganglioglioma

Ganglioglioma is a tumor containing neuronal elements and usually present in young adulthood with seizures. They variably enhance and are most commonly found in the cortex of the temporal lobe . Cystic change or calcification may be seen. Due to their indolent nature, overlying calvarial erosion may be present. Oligodendroglioma is another tumor which is usually more peripherally based. Dysembroplastic neuroepithelial tumor is often seen in the temporal lobes of young patients. Even though a few may enhance, a focal, enhancing mass would be an atypical appearance. Astrocytoma is a possibility, but they are usually white matter lesions. Metastasis is a consideration in older patients with a history of malignancy. Sarcoidosis may rarely present as a parenchymal mass. Related Cases
